It's time to have some different type of snacks. Today your Zim Zam Recipes will give you something different to both the Indian friends and the friends of other country. Batata Vada is basically a snack for your tea time.
Potatoes are generally used for French Fries and chips in western country, but it can be used in different way to make dishes as it is done in India.
Today I will let you know how to make Batata Vada in Indian style and also how to make it in other country with their available ingredients.

It has it's natural sugar which can compensate your intake of normal sugar which leads to diabetes.
Potato can help you in maintaining your skin in healthy way.
Apart from the above health and nutritional value it has a different taste when it is converted to French Fries or Chips.
You can not find fatty people in Bihar(India) and Uttar Pradesh(India) because their main vegetable is potato only.
The taste today you are going to have in different cooking method. Let us start with Indian style preparation first.
For friends in India:
Potatoes will have to be cooked in cooker. Remove the skin after cooling down. Smash the potato and keep aside. Number of potatoes depend on your serving the persons.
Other ingredients for potato fillings:
Onion chopped one
Coriander leaf chopped little
Green chilli chopped as per taste
Ginger chopped little
Garlic chopped four cloves(optional)
Ingredients for making batter:
Besan (Bengal Gram Powder) one cup
Rice powder one spoon
Chilli powder half spoon
Turmeric powder half spoon
Ajwain one spoon
Salt to taste
Ajwain (omam) actually helps in digestion and gives a nice flavour.
If you have Ajwain you can add or you can go without it.
How to make batter:
Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, rice powder and ajwain to Besan. Add water and salt to mix well. Lumps should not be formed while mixing.
Your batter should be thick enough to cover your potato filling with it's thick coat.
How to make potato filling:
Heat oil and add ginger and garlic. Fry a little then add onion and green chilli.
Now fry till the onion comes to brown in colour. Add smashed potato with required salt.
Fry for some time then add the chopped coriander leaf. Mix well and put off your stove.
Now your batter and Batata Vada filling ready to go for next step.
Take a small quantity of Batata Vada filling. Make it round and press between your palm it will give you a flat round shape.
Heat oil with a quantity to deep fry Batata Vada five to six at a time.
Dip your Batata Vada filling into the batter and put into the oil for fry.
Take it out after you find your Batata Vada is cooked.
For friends in other Country:
Now the preparation for my friends who live out of India. It is simple and you can try it at your home.
What you need to make your batter:
All purpose flour or All purpose gram flour or wheat flour.
You can make it with any of them as available in your country.
You will have to add eggs to the flour. Add one or two eggs as per the quantity of your using flour.
First beat the egg well then add the flour to it with salt.
If you find your batter to be in dough stage then add water to make it thick batter.
You have to dip the potato fillings so your batter should not be like dough.
I have already given the preparation of Batata Vada or potato filling in Indian style which I think you can go with in your pan also.
You can use the microwave oven to get the potatoes boiled or cooked, even you can cook it in heavy steam also.
Remove the skin of the cooked potato.
Heat the oil in pan or your frying oven.
Dip the potato filling in your egg flour batter and fry in the oil till it is cooked and changes its colour to deep.
Your Batata Vada is ready to eat now.
It will be something different from your French Fries and Potato chips.
I don't think that it can not be prepared by you.
You can have your Batata Vada or Potato Vada with sauce and Indians can have with chutney.
