Coconut Rice Dosa or Coconut Milk Pan cake to follow. If you
are a lover of dosa or pan cake you may like to make all type of dosa or pan cake. It is not a common
dosa so you won't find it in restaurant. You can make it without using oil. Actually after grinding coconut or adding coconut milk the dosa or pan cake will be freely removed from pan or tava without using oil. |
The coconut rice dosa will be very light and easy to make. Only you have to pour it on the pan or tava.
It's taste will make you go for it always. Healthy and nutritious also.
Ingredients also easily available in your home store. Required rice (any in other country or equivalent to boiled rice of India) is combined with coconut milk or grinded with grated coconut or cut coconut is the main part of making the batter.
Taste will be salty one and can be had with any of the hot sauce. It can be prepared immediately or you want to prepare later you can preserve it in container using your refrigerator.
Ingredients for Coconut Rice Dosa or Coconut Milk Rice Pan Cake to be arranged.
1.Boiled Rice one cup (Boiled rice is healthy and number of people prefer boiled rice instead of raw rice in their lunch and dinner) or equivalent rice in other country.
2.Coconut one grated or coconut milk one cup
3.Salt to taste
Quantity of rice and coconut should be in the ratio of 1:1. You can increase as per your requirement in the said ratio.
Prepare Coconut Rice Dosa Batter or Coconut Milk Rice Pan Cake like this.
Soak Boiled Rice for four to five hours. By soaking , the rice will become soft and will grind smoothly
Once soaked the boiled rice will become soft and will easily grinded with coconut in mixi
jar.
Grated coconut will be easy to grind with rice. Don't have grating facility you
can cut it to pieces.
Wash the soaked rice. By washing ,the dust and polish will be removed.
By washing the rice the dirt and polish of rice will be washed and your rice
will give you a nice and original colour.
Now grind boiled rice and coconut with little water. Grind it fine.
You can add water to grind to fine level. Water will be more to make the batter thin and flow fast.
The batter will be something different from general dosa. In general dosa you can spread poring in the centre of the pan.
Batter should be light and thin so add water. Add salt to taste as per the
quantity of batter.
When you drop the batter from top to tava the batter should flow easily to the pan or tava.
So consistency of the batter should be water based. Thin batter will give you a thin dosa or pan cake.
You can make coconut dosa immediately or after thirty minutes.
If you can wait and make dosa after two to three hours it will taste more.
If you keep the batter for long time firmentation process will make it little sour and taste will be different.
If you don't have coconut you can grind the rice with coconut milk which is easily available in all the super market.

In general dosa batter will be thick and you can rotate on tava or pan after poring
the batter in the centre of tava or pan.
Take a deep space spoon in which your batter can be stored well. Or use any of the container to pour the batter over the pan or tava.
Now heat the tava and start rotating round from the outer part of tava or pan to inner
part of tava or pan dropping the batter with the spoon.
You may find a thin round of the dosa or pan cake. Oil is not necessary if you want you can pour your daily cooking oil.
You can not simply rotate by poring batter in the centre of tava as you do in
other dosa.
So the above system should be followed to make the dosa or coconut rice pan cake.
Your dosa will be on tava. You can use oil if want to or you can make it
without oil also.
This batter is different from other dosa. Combination of coconut and rice will
make your dosa come out of tava easily.
So you can avoid poring oil as you do in other dosa. Check if it is not sticking on the pan, Or you can use oil and cover with a lid. Will come out easily.
Use of oil less dosa will be healthy one. Cholesterol level will be
checked.
Yeah your coconut dosa or coconut rice pan cake is ready don't you want a tasty hot chutney or sauce for it.
Simply you can use any of the sauce you have but hot one will be better.
Onion Chutney or Onion sauce making process should be followed like this.
Ingredients for Chutney or onion sauce you may require.
1. Sambar Onion (Small Onion) 7 to 8 onion or White Onion1

Tomato small 1
3.
Red chilli 4
4.
Chilli powder 1/2 spoon
5. Virgin coconut oil or Olive oil two spoon
6.
Salt to taste
Different type of chutney or sauce are there, but this type of chutney or sauce will taste
better for coconut rice dosa.
Preparation you may follow to make the Onion Chutney or Onion Sauce.
Remove seeds from red chilli. Chilli powder is added to compensate it.
Seeds of chilli is not good for health so it should always be removed.
Remove skin of small onion or White onion and wash it. Small onion if not available then you can use white onion one.
Growth of onion is doubled by using fertilizers so remove the two layers or the
thick layer of onion always. Wash it before and after removing the skin.
Coconut oil gives a nice taste so try to add it. Or you can use Olive oil or your daily cooking oil.
Now grind in your chutney jar onion, red chilli, tomato, chilli powder, salt and coconut oil or Olive oil together.
No need to add water. Tomato and small onion will be sufficient to make
the chutney or sauce liquid.
If you want you can wash the jar with little water and add to the
chutney or sauce.
The original colour of tomato and chilli will be a wonderful creator of red
colour. Food colour will not be required. Avoid food colour as far as possible,
not healthy one.
Wow! What a nice combination red chutney and white coconut rice dosa or coconut rice pan cake, tasty tasty very tasty.
Not easily affordable in hotels or restaurant so go with it , now onwards you
can make of your own.
